Hello: Is "phoned-in" a valid synonym for "lackluster" and why?
I find it in:
LACKLUSTER adj. draggy, blah, dull as dishwater, vanilla, flat, flat as a pancake, whitebread, pablum, zero, phoned-in, laid-back. See INSIPID. E. & A. Lewin, The Thesaurus of Slang, 1994
BTW, I understand why the others might be used as synonyms for "lackluster". Just couldn't find "phoned-in" listed in any dictionary with a similar meaning. Thank you in advance. Marius Hancu
