Grammar

Lack of/in Knowledge

Would you please check for the mistakes?

It is sad I know the grammar of some foreign languages and I lack in knowledge of my own.

Is the article necessary before grammar and does it sound natural to say that someone lacks in/of knowledge of something? My own refers to the language, not grammar.

Thank you a lot!

You can say it more simply. It's sad that I know the grammar of several languages, but not (that) of my own. __________________ Yes, it's the grammar.

But you can have a lack of knowledge (of something).
