Knowing

Hello.

I've just faced a dilemma whether the following sentence is grammatical.

"Even a grammatical sentence can sound unnatural and it's as useful to know it as knowing if the sentence is grammatical."

In my language I would say "...and it's as useful to know it as to know if the sentence is grammatical." but I find this pretty incorrect in English.

Another part of my mind says that I should use "knowlegde" but somehow another part finds it wrong.

Please help me, I'm desperate. Emotion: big smile

Thank you.

I don't think it's worth that much desperation, Hardell. - - There is a tendency to follow the comparative with the -ing form. -- Those who insist on parallel structures will select this one.

Even a grammatical sentence can sound unnatural, and it's as useful to know that as knowing if the sentence is grammatical.-- There is a tendency to follow the comparative with the -ing form.

Your sentences with "that" appear better to me. And yes, I'd go with "knowing" because I simply tend to use the -ing form there.

It's 4:30 AM here and I haven't gone to bed yet because I need, want, must solve such questions. That's why I'm desperate.
