Vocabulary

know a man by...

"You may know a man by his Christianity."
This sentence looks quite simple, but pretty
difficult for me.
1. You may realize what kind of personality a man
has if you know that he is a Christian. ??
2. You may realize he is a Christian (even if you
don't know he is) because a Christian has a
Christian-like character. ??
3. Any other?
Thank you.
