Knock over a fruit stand

Hello everyone,

I heard that in a movie named 'Arthur'. And I wonder what does that 'Knock over a fruit stand' mean. Someone please help me understand it. Thank you very much.

A fruit stand is a small business selling fruit. It normally would have some tables or shelves on which the fruit is displayed, and might have some sort of roof to provide shelter from sun and rain, but would usually be open to the outside. To knock something over usually means to bump it in such a way as to cause it to fall over.

  • If someone hit a fruit stand with their car it might cause the tables and shelves to fall or collapse, and perhaps bring down the roof if it had one.
  • A second, slang, meaning of knock over is to rob a business.
