Knock on something

Hi,

We say knock on a door.

But if a child strikes his plate with his fork lots of times (not very hard), if he hits a wall with his fingers repeatedly, or if he hits a desk with his pen repeatedly, can we use "konck on" in these contexts?

Hey, honey, stop knocking on your plate.
Too annoying. Don't knock on the wall.
Be good. Quit knocking on Dad's desk.

If knock on is not natural, what word(s) is ?

Not good choices. These are natural: Hey, honey, stop rapping/tapping on your plate.
