  • It was amazing to find the influencing roots for Kitaro came from Klaus Schulze of Tangerine Dream (a German synth band who did a lot of those electronic mood albums and some soundtracks such as Thief and Sorcerer, and also that TV show Streethawk, with one of their members, Christopher Franks going on to do all the music for Babylon 5) who happened to be in the studio when Pink Floyd were doing Dark Side To the Moon.
  • Kitaro in his own right has influenced a lot of New Age/electronic artists in his own right, especially with The Silk Road soundtrack.

[nq:1]I recall a documentary/show some years ago where Kitaro would every year go to some sacred place in Japan (possibly Mt Fuji) and bang one of those large drums continuously for 48 hours or so without a break as some sort of ritual.[/nq]
In also remember that they had to tape the sticks to his hands because after a while he couldn't hold on to them anymore.
