Kindly Vs Kind

When I said the following here in this forum, someone corrected me, and said it should be "kind" and not "kindly"; when I sought his clarifications, he did not reply to me---maybe, he was too busy. Could someone help me?

It is just amazing how someone could be so kindly and helpful.

(I looked up "kindly"---although it is quaint and old-fashioned, it seems to be a correct adjective in my sentence.)

I agree that it's a correct adjective. But you could live in an English-speaking country for years and never hear anyone use the word as an adjective.
