The word democracy originates from Greek (500 BC), it was mainly used by Athens for their rule of government, which they established after the great efforts. Democracy is the type of constitutional government in which everybody is free to vote for their desire candidates, they are free to go courts for their personal and national matters. Furthermore, it is a type of government, which provides the all-basic rights to someone. At present more than 150 countries are run by democratic governments. Pakistan is the country, which came into being in 14 August 1947. Since, the very beginning country has been facing the acute problem of governance. Earlier, when the country got independence it used for its governance the Indian Act of 1935. Thereafter, till then the demise of its founder Quaid-i-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah on 1948, the country had not been able to develop its own constitution, due to plethora of problems. Eventually on 1956, country was able to make her first constitution, but soon after two years, that constitution was abrogated by military c-in-c; commanding in chief; general Ayub khan. Since , that day the country has been plunged into the major constitutional problem. Though , in 1973, then elected prime minister Zulifqar Ali Bhutto make a constitution which was unanimously approved by national assembly. However, that constitution again suspended in 1977, by the intervention of military man Zia –ul-haq. Therefore , one could say that the big issue of Pakistan’s democracy is weak constitution. That is why, most of the time the country has been invaded by military rulers. The second problem, which the country had to face is, the incompetent politicians. In an initial nine years, the country had seven prime minister, since, 1947 to 1956, after that situation was not so much change to date. The third problem, which is the most important cause of the menace, is the allegations of rigging by opposition parties in different times on then governments. So, one could say that. “Though, democracy is the most powerful way of government in those countries where constitutions implement very strongly. However, the country like Pakistan is being failed to implement its constitution strongly, and the main reason of this is the stake of its elite group, in which not only military men fell, but feudal lords and businessmen also, which is the ruling class of this country. They are weakening the strength of the country since the very first day of this country’s independence. Due to such reason democracy and rule of law have never been prevailed in this country”.
