People attend colleges or universities for many different reasons. Why do you think people attend colleges or universities?

Generally, people go to colleges to obtain a college degree for getting employment. But there are also other reasons such as to gain knowledge, improve their social skills, learn about diverse cultures, enhance their career and increase social status.

To begin with, the main reason why students attain colleges is to obtain a college certificate for getting a job. In the past, self- taught persons could get a job but today’s era is different; even though the persons are highly learned but

if they lack college certificate then their chance of competing in the job market is very slim. In our modern world, an university certificate proves the education of a person. The only people who do need such a certificate would be either because they inherit a fortune from their parents or have other career options.

Others also attain to increase their knowledge and become good citizens . When people are educated, they know how to take care of the environment, follow the Laws of their country and contribute to their society. As we can see there is a significant difference between educated and uneducated people in their way of thinking.

Many also enroll to improve their social skills. In universities, there are different student personality types where some are introverts while some are extroverts. And by daily interacting with all these types, scholars improve their social skills. Also, while playing sports, students form teams and in this way, they learn how to work in a group.

Again some attain to learn about various cultures. As educational institutes attract scholars from different races, cultures, and traditions , they become good places to firsthand learn about those things.

Also some enroll to enhance their career. When ones have more educational qualification, their chances of getting a promotion is higher. For example, the chance of an associate manager who possesses a diploma degree of being promoted would be faster if he/she has a college degree. Moreover, to increase salaries , people also study in universities.

While others go to increase their social status. Some people want to prove their identities by getting higher education. Those might be rich but lack in education, so they precieve that they are not much respected like those of educated persons in their society so, to stand out among their community, they pursue their college studies.

In conclusion, people enroll in colleges for various reasons such as to get a job, improve social skills, learn about various cultures, get promotion in their career, learn about various cultures and increase social status.
