Many people believe that older employers over 50 years of age find it difficulty in accepting new ideas in the workplace but I do not agree with them.
Such people say that older workers have a rigid mindset and they resist with changing ideas which is not true. There are many older people who are quite adaptable and at the same time there are many narrow minded young people who do not welcome new ideas easily so such categorizing is not correct.
While I agree up to some levels that there are some jobs which could be better suited to younger workers. Experts claim that our memories decline as we age if proper care is not maintained. For example, works like in a high tech department where it involves vast amount of information, numbers and calculation , younger one could be preferred.
But at the same time, employing older people also have more advantages than the younger ones. As they have worked for many years, they are more experienced and work more efficiently than the younger ones who are inexperienced and tend to make many mistakes. Moreover, while dealing with the co-workers and the employees, the older ones are more respectful.
In conclusion, employing only the younger ones is not a good idea. The older category should also be given equal opportunity but in some cases, the younger category could be given more preference.
