Some people think that students in single-sex schools perform better academically. Others, however, believe that mixed schools provide children with better social skills for adult life.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Single-sex schools and mixed schools are common types of schools. Some people believe that the former has more advantages while others state that the latter has more benefits. This essay will discuss both their views and also share my thoughts.

First, single-sex schools have no distraction from an opposite sex. When students are distracted by an opposite sex, their attention in classrooms is lost. So, here in this type, their focus is not distributed. But, their concentration could be maintained till their school timing only as once they step outside their school campus they could be vulnerable from an opposite sex. So, the idea of this type is not so practical.

On the other hand, combined type schools are effective for acquiring social skills. Here, from an early age, students learn how to go along with different gender, which is especially effective for shy individuals to become more outspoken. In this way, by the time they graduate, they would have a good understanding on how to go alone with an opposite sex. Also, this would have a positive impact in their dating and marriage lives as they would understand their partners’ emotions and handle conflicts better.

In conclusion,Though single-sex schools have no distraction, students lack social skills. Also, in mixed types, though students develop social skills, they are subjected to distraction in their classroom. However, I prefer mixed ones as these have more practical approaches.
