kindly let me know if srticles to be use or not

We don't look forward to (the) 26th January because it's (a) Republic Day. We wait for it because it's one more day we can wake up late.



Kindly let me know in the above sentence is it ok if I omit the articles in brackets, is it perfect grammatically or shall i use the articles please explain
