Kindly advise

Hello,

I just came across an email with the following sentence

"We shall check the same and revert at the earliest"

Kindly explain why "shall" has been used and not "will" instead.
Also what is the meaning of revert.

Thanks

"We shall ..." is formal or official sounding, perhaps believed by the author to be formally more correct than "We will ....". "Shall" is used with the pronouns "I" and "we", and "will" is used with the pronouns "he", "she" or "it".

"revert" means to come back/return/reply (with an answer)
