Kind of and somehow

What's exactly the difference between "kind of" and "somehow"?
When do I use which one?
And when do I use "somehow or other"?

Because in my language there is used the same word "irgendwie" (=somehow/kind of)

Greets,
L :-)

Hi, I think ' kind of' means sort of e.g. I don't like your kind of girl/boy. and somehow represents ' by any means' like I'II somehow get my pencil back.

But in your first example (I don't like your kind of girl/boy) there it means your type of boy, doesn't it? But I actually meant like "You're kinda weird." ... (Or maybe I just got it wrong)

But anyway, thank you for the answer! :-)
