Kind / Kinds

Hello EnglishForward. I see sometimes see/hear native English speakers say " These kind of people", "These kind of things" etc. Isn't it gramatically incorrect? Shouldn't it be "kinds"?

It all depends on the context.

Napoleon was an ambitious megalomaniac. People like this are destined for great achievements, but also great downfalls.

The peasants of the Caucasus Mountains get regular strenuous exercise and eat very healthy diets. People like these live very long lives.
