Hi,

I wouldn't use that.
If you have found it in an old book, fine.
However, if you had to write it down, you'd be better off with kilogram, both in AmE and in BrE.

(Just my opinion)

I totally agree with you. I found it in my dictionarry, but I would clearly use kilogram.
