what's difference in meaning of this two sentences?

1.) killing for living

2.) killing for a living

Hi Tommy, (1) makes no sense to me. (2) means that murder is (his) vocation. 'A living' is a noun meaning a job, a livelihood, a way of making money.

MrM, I'm puzzled about the first sentence, because if I translate it to spanish it makes sense. I wonder if there's a context that could justify this sentence or it's gramatically wrong. Let's suppose you're a character in a movie about zombies, so you have to kill the zombies, then may this character say: I'm killing for living, or I'm killing for surviving. If not, what kind of sentence would b

In English it makes no sense, Latin. Rule 1: grammatical forms in one language do not necessarily carry over to another.

I'm clear now MrM, thanks. I always try not to mix the two languages, for the reason you mentioned. But I once saw a movie in which the zombies could be killed (and I just thought that the example could be representative), however, there's always a second part of these films, and a third part and so on...
