Kill the camera

Dear teachers,

Is this common to say "kill the camera"? (turn off the camera) Actually I heard it from a movie. Because in our native tongue "kill" is literal.

"Kill the mike" and "kill the power" are a bit more natural than "kill the camera," but they all work.

Perhaps if the camera were completely automated, as in a surveillance videocamera, the expression would be more natural.

The mike and the power have lives of their own, while in many cases "the camera" requires an operator.
