'kill oneself' or ' take one's own life'

Hi, do you find any difference in nuance among these three.

  1. He killed himself.
  2. He committed suicide.
  3. He took his own life.

I think 1&2 might be too direct for the family and the friends of 'He'.

Do you have any thoughts on this?

If the context is talking to his family and friends, I wouldn't say any of those things. I'd just say eg I'm so very, very sorry about Tom.

If the context is talking to his family and friends, I wouldn't say any of those things. I'd just say eg I'm so very, very sorry about Tom.

That may be, but of course it is not a matter of grammar.

Only the first one is compatible with the adverb 'accidentally'.
