Raavan' will simultaneously release in Tamil as 'Raavanan' on June 18, and hurting Tamil sentiments would be detrimental to the film's commercial returns.
Tamil stars Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajit, Suriya and Vikram won't be attending the IIFA either, be it their support to the boycott or just the fear of losing out on fans back home.
Even as the South Indian Film Industry has taken a hostile stand, stars participating in the IIFA defend their decision on humanitarian grounds.
Hindi film actor Vivek Oberoi says: "A lot of corporates have come up to me and said they'd like to help the Tamil people here. So project hope has
kicked off from this platform."
