bribe:(verb) to try to make someone do something for you by giving them money, presents or something else that they want: He bribed immigration officials and entered the country illegally. bribe:(noun) money or a present that you give to someone so that they will do something for you, usually something dishonest: He was accused of accepting/taking bribes from wealthy businessmen. kickback:an amount of money that is paid to someone illegally in exchange for secret help or work As far as I have understood, bribe contains money, presents or something else, on the other hand, kickback contains just money, (please do not care my explanation, I am not sure)

A kickback is money given back - a certain percentage returned. For example, there may be an unspoken agreement that if the mayor hires a certain contractor for a job, the mayor will receive 10% of the money paid to the contractor. The city council pays the contractor out of the tax revenues of the city, and the contractor secretly pays 10% to the mayor. Of course the mayor tries to influence
