'Khus' in air coolers

Hi

I want to know if there is any English word for khus that is used in air coolers? Again, this is one of those words which have become the permanent part of the English vocabulary.

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks!

That dry grass like thing that you see in air coolers (and also in the link I posted.)

I have a feeling that the air coolers that are in abundance in my country may not be easily confronted in the US or Canada; these are cold countries. Perhaps this is why I couldn’t find the equivalent of khus in English.

My PS question was from my original

Do you mean a filter?

Confronted is not correct. Perhaps you mean found.

Hi

I'm not quite clear on what you mean. The pictures that you've linked to seem to show two components:

- There is a material that soaks up the humidity from the air and that makes the air feel fresher. That material can be referred to as the desiccant

- In addition, there may be drops of a perfume added to the desiccant, to give the inside area a more pleasant

Some parts of the US get quite hot in the summer. Where I live (central North Carolina), the average high at this time of year is around 30°C, while in Phoenix, Arizona, the average high at this time of year is around 40°C. Most people in the warmer parts of the country have air conditioning in their homes, either a central system or window-mounted units.

'has become'
The subject of the sentence is '"one" of those words.' Therefore, the subject is singular and the correct option is : 'has become.' (Please search for subject-verb agreement on the internet if you still are confused about this concept).
