Keeps food from decaying and fresh

Hello,

"It keeps food from decaying and keeps food fresh. "

How do you reduce this?

"It keeps food from decaying and fresh. " Doesn't this sound awkward? or is it perfectly good?

Any other suggestion?

Thanks a lot.

No, I would not use that sentence.

CB's suggestion is good.

If I wanted to reduce your sentence even further, I'd simply say "It keeps food fresh."
