Keeping me waiting

"He was keeping me waiting."
Does this sentence seem natural ?
It seems perfectly grammatical, but the use of two progressive nouns makes it a bit awkward to my ears. What do you think ?

Same here, but as you have already observed, it is grammatical.

(By the way, they aren't nouns, they're verbs.)
