Keep your hands to yourself

Hi

I have often heard Indian teachers say this to their students:

Keep your hands to yourself/yourselves.

Would you say it is a natural expression?

Thanks,

Tom

Mr. Would you say it is a natural expression? It is, but I don't know what your Indian teachers mean by it.

Thanks, MM.

Some children can't sit still; they keep moving their hands, touching things, etc. Hence, the teacher's advice:

Keep your hands to yourself.

But I think here we would use you not yourself?

You may keep the remaining money with you.
I hope you'll keep this secret with you.

Then not really; to me it means 'Quit hitting, poking, etc., other kids.' I think a teacher (of my time at least) would tell the children to sit on their hands.
