keep up and catch up

Hi teachers ,

Can 'keep up ' and 'catch up' be used interchangeably in the following ?:
1/You miss a lot of classes.It's hard to keep up/catch up
2/ Go on in front .I'll keep up with you/catch up with you in a minute.
3/I have to run to keep up with him/catch up with him.
4/Our technology is more advanced , but other countries are catching up with us/keeping up with us.
5/Wage increases fail to keep up with inflation/catch up with inflation,

keep up and catch up have different meanings To keep up with someone means that you are virtually level with him. To catch up with someone means to draw level coming from behind. I'll keep up with you /catch up with you in a minute.

keep up and catch up have different meanings

To keep up with someone means that you are virtually level with him.
To catch up with someone means to draw level coming from behind.

1/You miss a lot of classes.It's hard to keep up = it's hard to maintain the same level as everyone else
It's hard to catch up = it's hard to make
