Keep "this" secret.

"Please keep it secret."

From the above if I replace "it" with "this", the setence becomes as follows.
"Please keep this secret."

Question: Can it be confusing to mean "Please keep 'this' secret." or "Please keep 'this secret'."?

If it can be confusing, how can we make the above clear?

May I say, "Please keep this as secret."?

In this case, 'secret' is a noun or adjective? Can it be either?

Yes, I suppose it's ambiguous in the way that you indicate. Context may indicate which meaning is intended. If not, and if the ambiguity matters:

For "Please keep 'this' secret." you could say "Please keep this <whatever it
