Keep or hold it back ?

Hi!

Which form is the correct one, please ?

a) Inhale and keep the air (or) inhale and hold the air back? (or are both forms acceptable?)

Thanks,

Samya

I think the expression you're looking for is "Hold your breath."

Take a deep breath and hold it.

How long can you hold your breath?

An expression "Don't hold your breath" means "Don't expect this to happen anytime soon."

It isn't "wrong", but GG's offering is much more common and natural.
