Keep abreast of

Hi,

"I have to keep abreast of any news just in case somebody asks me about what's happening in our country during one of my tours." (Let's assume that I work as a tour guide.)

Is ¨keep abreast' appropriate here or should I stick to 'keep up with'?

Thank you.
