Keep a wood

Context:
A theatre, The spectators wrote their names on small cards and placed them in a glass case. The magician takes out one of the cards and says the name that's written on it in a loud voice. The name is Agnes. Agnes is a shy woman in her thirties. Mary, a friend of Agnes, is seated next to her.

Magician: The name is Agnes.
Audience: Ohhh!
Magician: Agnes, where are thou?
Mary: Agnes, keep a wood
Magician: Don't be afraid to speak up.

You can listen to this excerpt, just in case the sentence wasn't "keep a wood", but "skip a wood" or "tip a wood".
It's clear that Mary wants Agnes to go on stage in spite of her timidity. With this expression, Mary tries to encourage Agnes.
What are the real words (keep-skip-tip) and what does the expression mean exactly?
