Keen/eager

Does this read naturally? (please improve it if necessary) Eager or keen ­– what is the difference?

He seemed to be in a bad mood, eager/keen to take it out on her.

I never use "keen", so I would say "eager". As far as I know, they mean the same thing. CJ
