Both mean merely, but in that context "just" could also mean, exactly, so I for one would use "only" to reduce the ambiguity:
"I have solved only/merely two sums."
"I have solved just/exactly two sums."
"I have solved only/merely two sums."
"I have solved just/exactly two sums."
