Justification of active predominance over passives
I've got a question about an essay concerning the justification of active predominance over passives.
As the author says, topics tend to be encoded as the grammatical subject because they share some attributes (which are completely understandable for me). This correlation between topic and subject is one reason for the predominance of actives over passives.
Why is this correlation a reason for active-predominance?? What's the problem or the distinctiveness of topics being subjects as well? Isn't this the case for actives as well?
Hope anyone can help me!

Do you mean 'the case for passives as well'? If that is what you are asking, no. Topics are subjects, that is all, and subjects are topics.

What one is to the grammar the other is to the content.
