Just think, can he go on on his own for long?

Could you please tell me if these lines are natural? Any suggestions are welcome.

[woman to her friend whose teenage son has been telling her that he will go away from the house]

Just think, can he go on on his own for long? Can he at this stage arrange a house for himself? Even if he goes to a friend, for how long? You have requested him over time and again and that perhaps is working as a kind of ego massage for him. This I am telling you from my own experience.
