Essay & Composition Writing
Just some stuff i wrote.
Hi everyone, thank you for spending your time to view my post. I think there are some facts about me that you guys should know before reading my writing.
First of all, I'm a college student from Malaysia, and Malaysia is a beautiful multi-cultural country with combination of three main races, which is Malay, Chinese and Indian. I'm born as a Chinese and I grow up in a mainly Chinese society, so logically my native language is Chinese. In this situation, I found my difficulty in learning English because even I know about the meaning of some words, I couldn't form it like a truly English-liked statements. I take time to form the sentences and usually it still sounds so ‘Chinese'. In addition, my grammar and vocab are not strong enough too. As a conclusion, I hope you guys could help me more in forming suitable or ‘cooler' sentences and remind me of my grammar mistakes too.
P/s: Please catch as many mistakes as you guys can, I'll accept it all. =)
And now, I start with what I want to write now.
When I talk about Warren Buffett, I think most of you know who he is and envy of his achievements, no matter in the aspect of money he earns or the respect he gains. But, when I tell you about Peter Buffett, what would you know? Properly you don't even know who he is.
Peter Buffett is the son of Warren Buffett, in another way, he is the freaking lucky man who born in an extremely rich family. You might start imagine about his luxury and extravagance lifestyle, like wake up in the morning and brush his teeth inside a swimming pool, driving a Lamborghini to school, a lot of girl screaming for him and so on. What I can say is, properly we should stop watching dramas before it overtake the reality life. LOL.
He had written a book titles Be Yourself. In the first line of first chapter of his book, he told:
You're Warren Buffett's son? But you look completely NORMAL.
This is mostly what others told him when they meet for the first time.
He doesn't have swimming pool in his house and he doesn't own a Lamborghini. About girls screaming? Then I'm not sure about that. What I know is his family not that rich when he just a kid. His dad started to gain the wealthiness and fame when he was 12, but they got not many changes after the family gets rich. They still stay at the same place, and his parents still the lovely one that take care of his study and teach him a lot of positive attitudes that make him extra mature and independent.
His mom is friendly and also hospitable, which she had a lot friends from differences countries and they would stay at Buffet's house when they travel to their state. Peter always has chance to interact with difference nation people and knowing about various cultural. Besides that, she had an open-mind. She wants Peter to know about differences religion, no mater is Buddhism, Christian, or other not well-known religions, so that he'll learn to be humble, understanding and respect the different between every single person, in the sense of races, opinions, and behaviors.
On his dad's side, he learns about great attitudes. Firstly, he dad always work patiently and serious in his own small room. He used to read about economic magazines and search about recent facts and once he get into it, he won't be interrupt by anything happens around him. Its may sound so bored and not interesting that always reading about those economy facts and deal with thousands of numbers, but Peter knows that his dad just enjoys it. The reason his dad could work this way all because he loves his job a lot and the success in any investments could cheer him up so much. Peter clearly knows that the success that his dad achieved is not because of lucky, but how much he loves his job.
While now, let's back to Peter. Seriously, he's a lucky dude and this is an undeniable fact. I'm not saying about he born in rich family, but, the freedom of choices he get. This is the biggest gift that his parents gave to him and led him to found his own ambition in music. Sometimes people always look for money but what we actually want are choices.
He gets the shares which worth around ten thousand US dollars from his dad while he is just 18, but he dad told him that's the last money he would get from the family. Do we have this choice? Em, mostly no.
He sells all his shares and leaves his family to look for his own dream. Do we seriously have the courage? Em, I think not so. Do our families could just let's go and chase for our own dream but not parent's dream (Seriously, nowadays many of these pity children.)? For Asian, the answers are normally no.
This is not the examples of showing his family so damn rich, but showing that he so lucky that had all these choices. Maybe we can make this point clearer with a story from his book, an occurrence that happens when he just a newbie in Stanford University. He was walking downstairs from the hostel and passed by a girl who was talking on the public phone. (Yupzz, public phone. It's the age that cellphone still not exist in the world. Could you imagine? xD) He doesn't want to be a eavesdropper so he just left. But a moment later, he saw the girl again with tears on her cheeks. The scene shocked him, and out of caring, so he asked the girl what's going on. She told, she just had a talk with her dad just now. She told her dad about how stress and miserable she was, she didn't love what she was studying now and if she just continues then her future will be totally gloomy, hopeless, and destined to be fail. Finally, her dad accepted what she said and told: "Alright girl, you not only can be a doctor, maybe a lawyer instead." The girl was so happy and what on her face was the tear of joy.
Erm.. Same like Peter, when I saw this I was like, WTF??!!
Can only be doctor or lawyer? Come on, life have still more and more choices are waiting for you to explore. Why this happen to the poor girl? She not really poor but oppositely she was kinda rich, when we look onto the aspect of thickness of her wallet. But she has no choices too, or maybe she doesn't defend her own right to chose. Anyway, if you are the one that lucky enough to get your own choice, please appreciate and chase for your dream.
