Just so

Hi,

Is this okay in present tense: This is being done to punish the children just so they won't skip school again.

b) He was leaning against the bench, and it was at that point the waiter walked in. (is this okay in past?)

c) Suppose someone asks: What should I do? You reply: for one thing, you could ask her how she feels. (since it is a suggestion, I believe 'could' is better than 'can' even though it is present tense. Am I right?)

Regards,
