That's strange. I know an uncountable number of people over the age of 50 who think nothing is unusual about using the expression 'my mom' to refer to their mothers. It's quite common among the people I know, and these are professionals, not just juvenile din

I am truly shocked! I have always called my mother 'Mom' and referred to her as 'my mother'
