just hung up with or from or on?

I always pause when it comes to prepositions. I don't know which preposition is the correct.

Today, I wanted to tell my colleague that " I just hung up with Mike" after I said that I paused and I didn't know if what I said was correct or not.

What I wanted to tell my colleague that I had a conversation on the phone with mike. NOT hanging on him. (At least I know this is the correct preposition Emotion: smile ).

Prepositions frustrates me so much, either when speaking or when writing. I hope someone could give me a simple rule to follow when I get stuck in these kind of situation.

I'm sorry, but mastering the nuances of prepositions takes a lot of study and practice. There aren't any hard and fast rules, especially in idiomatic usage! I hung up with Mike - (we finished the conversation) I hung up on Mike - (you were rude and hung up in the middle of a conversation because you didn't want to talk any longer)

You're correct. It's difficult, especially if you are living in a non-English country.

I'm glad I got it right! I will make sure I practice saying it so I can get used to it.
