Just because...(it) doesn't...

Hello,

Does the inclusion of "it" in the second sentence make it sound odd? The first one's the original.

- Just because Wayne scored 34 goals in a year doesn't mean he's a selfish player.

- Just because Wayne scored 34 goals in a year it doesn't mean he's a selfish player.
