I understand it's more natural to say the following sentence without the bracketed part, but should one include it when writing a paper or speaking formally?

Also, is it more common to omit the pronouns when it's followed by "doesn't mean"?

Just because you're my brother (,it/that) doesn't mean I have to like you.
