Just another essay... Would anynone be so kind to correct it?

Distance learning and online computer classes should replace classroom learning.

Although learning is rather individual than collective process, is it really possible that with help of modern technologies, education in standard classroom will become outdated? And can distance learning and online tutoring deliver as effective teaching as typical schools?

Despite a fact that an idea of this new approach to education is getting more and more popularity I don’t believe that will completely rule out schools as well as profession of teacher. Distance learning is very useful in vast, inaccessible areas, where people live far away from each other, like in Australia. It helps to give children decent basic education, without necessity of going to school. Moreover this form of learning seems to be suitable for people with disabilities. They can learn at home in case there is no other solution.

But I don’t think that some “online classes” allow us to freely interact with our teachers or fellow students. Nothing will replace ambience of competitiveness and friendship among students. Virtual school won’t encourage you in the same way to achieve your goals. Only strong-willed people can manage in such circumstances. That is why this idea is not good for children or younger teenagers. In that age, students need to be supervised, supported by their teachers and parents. Internet doesn’t enable that kind of relations to grow. Even in college I hardly imagine how it will be possible to test student’s knowledge online? Cheating would become very tempting. What about other issues?

Discussion plays vital role in classroom. It teaches us, how to make statements, explain and share information. Verbal dispute allows us to master noble art of rhetoric that has been nourished since ancient Rome. Last but not least we should consider making friends and meeting new people that still remain a domain of “offline” education.

We need to use all possibilities that high tech offers us, but we should chew over its applications. Think about all pros and cons of each idea than decide if it outweighs traditional way of doing something. It will protect us from making mistakes and let us to decide what is better for us. We mustn’t follow new inventions blindly. The same thing is with distance learning. Only we alone ought to decide if it works for us.
