Just an Introduction
Hello, Wordsmiths of MWSM!
My name is Steve Gelder. I've been reading and occasionally posting for the last week or two, and thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself properly.
I'm a writer, filmmaker, former standup comedian and syndicated newspaper columnist (the column is "Free Association", the compilation book "Somewhere Between Amused & Annoyed"). I currently live in Los Angeles (Koreatown, for those who know the city) - moved here in October
2003 from North Carolina. Since that time, I'vewritten/directed/produced a short film that is playing on the festival circuit (two so far) and a writing partner of mine and I sold a treatment to a production company that makes films for a cable channel; we turn in the second draft today, and they apparently are anxious to go to production. I am working with another partner on a series idea; we have the pilot script, 15 pages of episode 2 and a rudimentary bible assembled. And I have my own stacks of solo work in progress.
I maintain the FAQ for a group called alt.comedy.standup, which is currently under cross-posting attack from Dr. Jai and Pink Nebulous from some other group many of you know.
I'm chatty and try to be helpful re: questions, although occasionally I will respond with a smart-ass answer because...well, that's just me.
So, I'm not as experienced in scriptwriting as some in here, but I'm working on it. I'm pleased to make your acquaintances, and with all that out of the way...
