Just a single line sentence. Any corrections?

"A lot of school work has been piled up, I am about to pay the pied piper."

A lot of school work has been (most people would use the active voice) piled up. (a comma here is an error called a comma splice. ) I am about to pay the pied piper. (The correct idiom is "pay the piper." The Pied Piper is a character in a children's story.)
