I would just say "I can't figure out how to 'bold' this text" or "... how to put this in boldface.."

I've never heard "embolden" used in this context. It would usually refer to people, as in "Emboldened by the liquor, he got into a fight with a man twice his size."

Why separate the use from its technical context?
If fortified cereals or fortified wine is acceptable, then why not emboldened text?

Anyways, I don't want to get into a semantic dispute. Finally, its up to you.

I didn't say it was not acceptable, just that I had never heard it used that way. From your links, though, it does appear to be commonly used in that context. Maybe I'll start using it myself.

Hi,

Like Khoff, I'd say eg 'I bolded that sentence'.
Or 'made it bold'.

I don't remember ever hearing 'embolden'. It would make me wonder if the speaker was trying to be funny.
