Jumps to the side...

Hey. Kindly help me with this.

She jumps to the side just in time to avoid the car, who instead goes on and crashes into a house.

1: Is there a more natural phrase than "jumps to the side"?

2: Could I use "ducks to the side"?

3: Is "goes on" the most natural choice to use here?

4: Is "instead" ok to use since the one in the car was deliberately trying to run her over?

Thank you for your time.
