Judgement call

Hello everyone,

Does judgement call have the same meaning as call alone, in the sense of decision?
For example, in It was my call and I made a judgement call, do call and judgement call denote the same thing, or is there a difference in meaning?

Thank you.
H.

In most cases they're used interchangeably, but in some cases "your call" may not require much judgement. Context can determine whether or not the presence of "judgement" in the expression really indicates that eg. one person's judgement may be different than another person's judgement.

The thing is, I have been trying to translate "judgement call" into my language but so far I have failed. That is, in trying to keep it as short a formula as English's is. Perhaps I'll just have to accept that I need a long

I can appreciate that translation is difficult when the phrase can have different meanings in different situations.
