Vocabulary

jobwise

I am translating a letter, the tone should be friendly but not too informal.

Could you help me revise the underlined bit please?
I apologise in advance, I cannot provide options as I really do not know how to put them. That is why I am asking for help :-)

"I am presently in my hometown, collaborating with the local University and the scientific journal I told you about + a local NGO, but I am living on another job.
This job should bring me to London in mid-2015 and I thought it could be a good opportunity to develop something I have been thinking of..."

Thaaanks!

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. I'm not sure 'I'm taking another job' would match the situation. The point the person is trying to make is is that s/he is collaborating with different institutions but in fact they don't pay her/him. (This is why) s/he is living on another job (to sustain her/himself)...

Is there an expression that could be more appropriate or elegant than the one

I am presently in my hometown, collaborating with the local university and the scientific journal I told you about, plus a local NGO, but I am relying on another job to earn a living.

Thank you very much BarbaraPA!!
Just for future reference, I have found this on the guardian : "it is hard to live on a few hours teaching".
When can we use 'to live on', is this context right? How would you use it?

Thank you

You could say "but I live on what I earn from another job."
