Jobs

Hi,

Can “jobs” sometimes mean “people”?
In the following conversation, does “jobs” mean “employees”?

(Company A wants Company B to employ some of their employees.)
A: I’m very concerned about my team. I have to protect as many of these jobs as possible.
B: We understand your concerns, but we cannot be expected to take on all your team, and provide the cost-effective support you’re looking for.

Thank you in advance,
ladybird
