Job titles in (proper) English

Hi there,

would you mind answering me a few questions concerning English vocabulary ? :-S

I am looking for an English/(international?) equation to the following German words ( Explanation) :

Steuerfachangestellter ( Working for a tax advisor, employee who prepares tax returns and objections/appeals, but not an graduated/approved tax advisor)

Steuerberatungsbüro / Steuerberatungsgesellschaft ( the office / company the tax advisor and his employees work for)

My teacher taught us Steuerfachangestellter means " tax advisor´s assistant" which I think - from my personal experience with my colleagues coming from all over the world - is not the exact term for my job title. I thought of: assisting tax consultant or at least assisting tax professional. The reason for "my" translation is that an apprenticeship Steuerfachangestellter in Germany requires a final examination in order to call the apprentice "Steuerfachangestellter". To my mind he or her is not only an "assistant to", which I always thought would be "the backoffice" or "secretary" im terms of "team assistant".

I would be highly delighted if you could provide me with the correct term as well as an explanation why you think it is the most suitable one.

Thank you so much in advance,

Dee
